7/23/2024: Jump Right Back In!

Do you know what it feels like to get into a good routine, fall away from it for a while, and then struggle to get back in the groove? I sure do, and I bet you do, too.

Maybe you went on vacation, or got sick, or had some family issues arise. And the regular exercise/yoga/meditation/gardening/etc. schedule you had been keeping got disrupted. And now, the motivation to get back into it just isn’t coming. For me, that struggle is writing, like I’m making myself do right now.

Way back when I graduated from college, my goal was to become some kind of writer. And for a while I did that – working on local newspapers and textbooks, and entering the occasional fiction writing contest. And then I taught writing to middle and high schoolers for many years. Next week’s newsletter will be more workout-related. But for now, I’m OK with what I produced today. And if you need help with getting back to your fitness routine, I’m here for you, because I’ve been there, too.

Every summer since 2009, I’ve participated in an online challenge to write and record 50 songs in 90 days. Even my enthusiasm for that had flagged lately, but I pushed through over the weekend – here’s the song that helped me re-charge:
