12/12/2023: Keep Moving During the Holidays – Part 2
Two newsletters ago (right around Thanksgiving) I gave some suggestions for how to maintain some kind of fitness routine at this time of year. Well, I’m back with more on that topic – not just for you, but for me, too!
Making holiday preparations can certainly require a lot of activity, and we may indeed be getting plenty of physical movement from decorating, navigating airports and stores, etc. But getting in some dedicated, focused exercise is about more than physical well-being. And while I can give you my list of reasons for working out – even for just a few minutes at a time – during the holidays, I’m sure you can come up with your own list. (And it’s probably quite similar to mine!)
Last year at about this time, I invited folks to take part In 12 Days of Fitness – a different exercise movement each day. Here’s one of the videos I sent for the Super Hero movement:
This year, I’m taking more than a week off work (my lovely and wise wife Anna insists), but I made up a challenge for myself, and I thought you might want to take part. Each day from December 26 through January 2, I’m giving myself three or four movements to do for three sets each. That’s a pretty good workout that also allows for plenty of vacation fun!
Want to join me? Email me and let me know, and I’ll send you my daily workout and a bit of encouragement along with it. (And that Super Hero movement? One of those days, I’ll show you how to build a mini-workout around that.)
This Sunday’s 9 am yoga class at 2 The Top is the last one of 2023 – We’ll resume on Sunday, January 3. Come join us (and we’ll do some Super Heroing this Sunday, too)!
12/30/2023: Join Us for Holiday Week Workouts!
First and most importantly, I wish you a wonderful holiday season!
Now for the fitness stuff – I’m taking some time off work, which means (since I work in an awesome gym) I won’t be keeping up with my usual fitness regimen. But I’m going to try to get in a mini-workout at least a few minutes each (well, maybe most) days. Maybe I can even get family to join me!
And I thought you might want to take part, too. Each day from December 26 through January 2, I’m giving myself three or four movements to do for three sets each. That’s a pretty good workout that also allows for plenty of vacation fun!
Want to join me? Email me and let me know, and I’ll send you my daily workout and a bit of encouragement along with it. But make sure to let me know that you want these daily emails, which are separate from my weekly newsletter.
And why the jumping jacks video? Well, old-school exercises are still some of the best around.
And jumping jacks are not just for elementary school gym class; they’re a powerhouse of benefits. They get your heart pumping, challenge the breathing, and use the whole body. And the best part? You can do them anywhere, no equipment needed!
The first workout I’ll send on Tuesday the 26th will include jumping jacks, so the video is a preview (and gives some ideas for jumping jack variations):
So enjoy your holiday time, and email me if you want my week of on-your-own workouts. And one more thing: in last week’s newsletter, I told you that the Sunday morning yoga class at 2 The Top will begin again in the new year. Well, I’ve decided we’re going to have one on New Year’s Eve morning, so join me at 9 am on December 31st!
